Unlock workplace accessibility with the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF)
23 June 2025
The Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) provides up to $13,140.40 per person each year for Auslan Level 1 interpreting (1). This funding makes workplaces more inclusive by allowing Deaf employees to sign up for Convo Now. With their own Convo work number, they can make and receive calls independently—no need to rely on others or miss out on conversations with colleagues and customers.

Seamless communication at work
Convo Now ensures workplace conversations happen instantly. Whether it’s a quick check-in or an important meeting, Deaf employees can connect without waiting days or weeks for an interpreter.
Chloe, an interior designer and Convo user shared "Sometimes I need to call suppliers about kitchen cabinetry or other project details. Emailing can take days or weeks, which isn’t practical with tight deadlines. Convo lets me handle calls in real time, making my work much more efficient."
For video meetings, simply open the app, tap “Get an interpreter,” and share the meeting link. A Convo interpreter joins and stays for the entire meeting, ensuring smooth communication from start to finish.
An IT cybersecurity professional said "I asked if I could connect straight away and the interpreter responded with yes. All I had to do was send them the MS Teams meeting link and the interpreter could join from their end. It facilitated a meeting between myself three colleagues from overseas. It made the communication so clear and fluid. When I left the meeting I took a deep breath and realised Convo eliminated the stress of these meetings!”

Beyond meetings—staying connected every day
Convo Now isn’t just for meetings—it helps Deaf employees stay engaged throughout the day. Whether it's catching up with a teammate, calling a supplier, or joining a team discussion, Convo keeps communication open and inclusive.
Convo Now supports:
- confidence
- collaboration
- open, inclusive communication
Phillip, a Deaf advocacy professional shared "Hearing people often rely on phone calls rather than emails. In the past, waiting for email replies slowed things down. With Convo, I can make quick calls, get clear answers, and move forward faster."
Real-life workplace scenarios
- Late-night shifts: On-site Interpreters aren’t available for the 4am team meeting on short notice, but Convo Now makes it easy to join and stay updated.
- Overcoming isolation: A Deaf employee struggles to connect with colleagues. With Convo Now, they can chat over lunch, clarify information, and even translate documents confidentially.
- Last-minute meetings: No interpreter available? Convo Now works across phone, tablet, or laptop, ensuring clear communication with clients and teams.
- Building a strong relationship with your line manager: Communicate promptly and effectively with your manager whenever necessary, regardless of your location. Don’t let delays from clients, customers, or colleagues hinder important conversations. Stay proactive to maintain smooth and open communication. If their work and skills are valuable, they could lead to a promotion and advancement to the next level.
By using Convo Now in these real-life workplace scenarios, you’re not just improving communication—you’re building confidence, expanding your skills, and positioning yourself for greater opportunities. Seamless interactions today can lead to stronger connections, better performance, and even future promotions.
